6 Days

Personal posts are a strict no-no on this blog, yet life would be very dull if not for exceptions. I'll be leaving for homeland in 6 days. For 9 days. The latter figure doesn't figure in the thoughts that reside in my conscience right now. Right now I'm too busy in the plans and anticipations of a trip long awaited.

Life has it's own sense of irony. And if you refuse to accept that, it makes you snuffle that up your nose until you almost suffocate. The golden rule is to “never say never”. Never utter words that openly display your dislike of a particular activity or event. Sentences like "I'll never touch a cockroach in my life." are an easy and open invitation for the guy in charge to have a laugh at your expense. Be open to all ideas, or at least show that you are.

Anyways, I've had my share of ironies over the past few months. And of all sorts, ranging from trivial; to huge, ego-shattering ones; some that were mildly entertaining; to some that I will never go through again. Oops! I said it again!

All that I need now is a few days at home, where they give me food and iron my clothes. Where the mother looks at her son with proud eyes, worried about how weak he's become, where the father gives his Visa Electron and the newly bought car to his poor son toiling hard in distant lands, where old friends wait for tales of the young man’s exploits in the far off lands. Where stories half-written are to be completed, and perhaps some new stories meant to be written.

I think we live our lives in the span of a few moments. The rest is spent in anticipation and reflection.
